Library Gardens
We are very grateful to Lytham Rotary Club for providing the majority of the funding to pay for the re-landscaping of the Library Gardens. The Green Partnership aslo contributed and Glasdon Group Limited have provided one of the new benches in the gardens. The design of the new gardens and the supervision of the work was undertaken free of charge by Natasha Dervish (www.garden-doctor.com) with the bulk of the manual labour being carried out by staff and inmates from Kirkham Open Prison aided and abetted by Lytham in Bloom volunteers.

The gardens have been planted with substantial quantities of sustainable plants including over a hundred Photinia (Red Robin) to provide a hedge along the wall, a mix of Rhododendrons, Skimmia, Fatsia, Magnolia and Camellia. Unfortunately the Rhododendrons are over for this year but with plenty of care and attention there should be a wonderful dispay next year.

Fire Station Garden
Graham Pennington of Pennington Nurseries and Marcus Williamson of Marc's Garage, Haven Road have between them sponsored the makeover of the land in front of Lytham Fire Station on Station Road. The two large flower beds were planted in the spring and re-planted now with summer bedding and shrubs.

Memorial Gardens
This four year multi thousand pound project has resulted in a town centre garden area which looks stunning in the spring and summer and which provides a lovely area in which residents and visitors can sit and enjoy the surroundings.
The project meant a complete renovation including; cleaning of the Cenotaph, new bedding areas and plants, refurbished benches and new iron railing all around the garden.

St. Cuthbert's Cross
This important historic landmark goes back some 1300 years and is the site of a resting place by monks fleeing the vikings and carrying the body of St. Cuthbert from Lindisfarne to Durham. The site has been fully refurbished with the financial help of St. Cuthbert’s Church, the work included new paving slabs, new iron fencing, new bench and cleaning of the monument. The refurbished cross was re-dedicated by the Dean of Durham at a ceremony in September 2009.
